![]() On the otherhand, Shady Maple has thos and favorites and more. On one hand, Miller's has great (but pricey) dining options and a menu that sticks to traditional Lancaster/Amish favorites. However, the cuisine more than made up for this loss. The overall atmosphere was not better or equal to that found at Miller's (which overlooks an Amish corn field). The walls were adorned with fitting decor, such as painting of Amish country or even quilts. Before we even caught glimpse of the food or dining area, we were already in love with Shady Maple. It was fancier than the Best Western or the Howard Johnson's. We visited our respective restrooms, and boy, they were amazing. We walked in and were greeted by an enormous lobby/waiting area. We visited Shady Maple and were almost dumbfounded. However, our last trip we tried something new. It had become a tradition for my family to dine at Miller's Smörgåsbord the day we arrived in Lancaster. This place completely destroyed my expectations. The good reviews are likely to be by older tastebuds with no sense of taste or those who only care about bulk amounts of food. Good luck! Stick with the Amish gift of making pretzels, home made ice cream, kettle corn, jams and so much more that is quality tasting. Although it was years ago, we seem to remember Millers being better. Do't get me wrong- we are far from food snobs and we also have plenty of padding ourselves, but this place was sheer gluttony and with food that left us unsatisfied, feeling disgusting, and sorry that we went. As you look around, the clientle also leaves a lot to be desired. Sloppy and drowning in sauces and glazes. Ham, catfish, roast beef and steaks- Certainly enough variety. The grills and carving stations were a nice touch. This is one we will surely forget-the food is not even fresh from the Amish!! Potatoes and mac and cheese were instant Fried foods were old and greasy-sitting in its own oil. My husband and I are foodies and love a good buffet- Some of the best being at the Wynn in Vegas, and the Borgata in Atlantic City, those are just to name a few memorable ones. Plenty to choose from, but if it is quality you seek then look elsewhere. The first thing you can't help but notice is the sheer size of the buffet itself-it is HUGE. You will NOT leave hungry, that is for sure. If volume is all that you care about, then this is for you. Beautiful lobby, gift shop, and the dining room itself is lovely. Also stop over and check out Shady Maple Market and the Goods store, too.The place is very overwhelming upon entering. If you do go here, don’t forget to go to the gift shop downstairs, it is huge and has so many items. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were both very pleased with the cleanliness of the facility and quality and price of food. For dessert I had an apple dumpling which was pretty good and a second cup of coffee. The hot bacon dressing here is to die for delicious! The baked haddock was also very good. When I finished my first plate of food I then went and made myself a spinach salad with red onion and topped with hot bacon dressing and also took a piece of baked haddock. My friend found one of her favorites, grilled shrimp and said it was delicious. I filled a cup with decaf coffee and went back to the table. I also took a ham ball, stuffed pepper, and green beans on my first plate of food. My friend and I both tried the roast beef and mashed potatoes & gravy which was delicious. ![]() We decided to walk from one end of the very long line of buffet tables to get an idea of what was available. The table numbers are easy to see which is good because the place is huge. We were seated quickly by a very nice hostess. This time, no lines, probably because it was around 1:30 PM. That time I didn’t feel like waiting outside in the heat. hot day and there were lines around the building to get in. I had been here previously on a very, very. ![]() We figured since we couldn’t check in to our hotel until 3-4 PM maybe doing a late lunch would be a good idea. My find and I stopped here for lunch on arriving in Lancaster County. ![]() Restaurants near Shady Maple Smorgasbord. The Willows Holiday Resort & Conference Centre. The Palace of the Lost City at Sun City Resort.Hotels near (MDT) Harrisburg Intl Airport.
